63rd Independence Day over,
Freedom walks hand-in-hand with responsibility always. It is such a feeling that once you experience it, even if you mess up a little bit due to the initial euphoria, soon enough you’ll draw your own line of control. However talking in a more social way, one can’t imagine not being a free individual- unshackled and unrestrained. Freedom is to speak up one’s mind, free to express any and every opinion fearlessly, free to criticize and of course be criticized and above all to put oneself on the line- no matter what the cost.
But a deep look into the present scenario can clearly tell you the truth. Ask a typical fast-life youngster and the words from his mouth will be “My life, my rules, gotta problem with it. We people have taken independence for granted. We have celebrated the Independence Day for more than six decades. But the ground reality has not changed. Rather it’s worsening day-by-day. Population is increasing by leaps and bound, with absence of infrastructure, jobs and amenities to support this. Woes of poor farmers, power cuts and germs of terrorism are still affecting our nation, rising inequality between the rich and the poor with less priority to quality education. This is what I see when it comes to comment upon Independence.
Are we still ‘Independent’ and can dare to comment upon such existing loopholes? Is such a kind of ‘Independence’ justified?
But what we must not forget is that with freedom, comes responsibility. We can’t forget the sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
Finally, freedom according to me is the right to express oneself without harming the sensibility of others. It’s not about shouting one’s preferences from the rooftops or getting labelled and put into pigeonholes. It’s all about individuality. Offering your children a deep understanding of traditional values and certain moorings in our culture is what true freedom is. It is not a license, it is liberty that comes along with responsibility.
Women are still deprived of their rights, they still have to resort to their family-men for taking decisions. Real freedom is self-realization wherein narrow-mindedness should go away, that has to be fought for; cherished about and defended. And if you are willing to pay the price, and believe in yourself, no matter what the cost, then SPEAK UP!
As for an eye-opener, ask a person who has never known freedom, what freedom means. The answer might be bone-chilling to scare you from the very within.

63rd Independence Day over,
Independence or Freedom is one of the most valued words in everyone’s vocabulary. For most of us, Freedom is a word relegated to the yellowed-with-age Constitution books, vacuumed and dusted annually and flaunted for a week at the most, around August 15th.
Freedom walks hand-in-hand with responsibility always. It is such a feeling that once you experience it, even if you mess up a little bit due to the initial euphoria, soon enough you’ll draw your own line of control.
